Nicolaus (Nik´uh-lay´uhs)

One of the seven men selected in the early days of the Jerusalem church to administer the distribution of food to the poor, including the widows, under the supervision of the apostles (Acts 6:1-6). His designation as a “proselyte” indicates that he was a Gentile.
